Description:
This waterfront property affords one of the best views on Martha's Vineyard Island. From the porch, the scene begins down the lawn to the banks of one of the largest ponds on the Vineyard and on to the popular bathing beach called "the bend in the road". The view continues across Edgartown outer harbor to Cape Pogue on Chappaquiddick Island, 5 miles distant. The house faces East so that the rising sun or moon streams across the water onto the property.
4 Bedrooms: 1st floor double (History of Ocean Heights bed), desk, chairs, and two dressers; 2nd floor red bedroom with antique post & beam bed and built-in dresser storage; blue bedroom also has an antique post & beam bed but additionally has a twin with built-in dresser storage and a dressing table; Master bed room has an antique "Butterbowl" queen size platform bed, 2 large closets and two dressers.
2 Living Rooms: Upstairs open area ideal as a family room with TV, VCR and table suitable for occasional meals. Formal 1st floor living room has a working fire place, TV, VCR, stereo, desk, 900 MHz wireless phone, digital answering machine, and couch (convertible to a double bed not included in the sleeping specifications provided elsewhere).
Dining Room: Hand made antique Welsh dresser and 2 leaf tables (that may be placed together to seat 16). Decorated with unique stencil designed for this house by an artist who designs covers for the New Yorker magazine.
Kitchen: Surprising number of service units includes a new gas stove/oven and new refrigerator. Also, a microwave, dishwasher, compactor, and a full-load Maytag washer and dryer. Unusual dehydrator for drying flowers, fruit, and fish, has been popular as a way to restore summer-damp crackers or wet salt.
3 Bathrooms: Downstairs have two sinks in the counter for gracious entertaining as well as a tub/shower. Upstairs, front has a tub (no shower), sink and storage space; back has full tub/shower.
Closets: At least one provided in every bedroom as well as a kitchen "Pantry", upstairs linen closet, and an upstairs "utility" closet with iron, ironing board, and vacuum cleaners.
Additional Facilities: There is a total of 4 TV sets, 3 VCRs, and 2 stereos. The house is wired for 53 channel TV and 27 station FM cable service, 4 telephones and an answering machine for house phone (508) 627-5086. Outdoor equipment includes Adirondack chairs, tables and flower urns on the porch. A croquet set in provided to enjoy the expansive front lawn to the water’s edge. We have an outdoor shower and grille. Two (yes, 2!) 16 ft. Hobie cats, a canoe, and a kayak are provided at no additional cost. Now you can make use of your waterfront location without the bother and expense of renting and transporting boats from elsewhere on the Island. We do our best to maintain our little fleet, but if there is recent damage or breakage, we may have had to order parts from off-island. Additionally, the owner provides all grounds maintenance and weekly house cleaning.
